Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a Full Stack Engineer to grow their career at AJ Bell, helping us to develop the future of our services that power Feel Good Investing. You will be joining a cross-functional development team which has a philosophy of continuous improvement, and a strong focus on engineering excellence.
This role is part of a growing team focused on providing the core services that underpin our apps and websites, ensuring our customers are provided with world-class innovative investment solutions and services.
We are on the lookout for an experienced Full Stack Engineer who can help architect, build, and deploy APIs, web apps, data layers, and 3rd party integrations across the stack, from NodeJS (Typescript), MongoDB, React, and cloud-native solutions in AWS.
What to Expect
- Hands-on with full stack feature development, working with other engineers across different disciplines in a dedicated product-aligned squad
- A dynamic, cross-functional Agile squad with a continuous improvement mindset, and autonomy to do the right thing
- Working closely with Product, UX and Business colleagues, as well as mobile and web engineers, to propose new solutions and pilot ideas that help customers Feel Good Investing
- Embrace a ‘build it, run it, own it’ DevOps mentality, nurturing code from idea all the way to production
Tech Competency
- 5+ years commercial experience developing web applications and APIs with some of the following; Node (Typescript), React, PHP,.NET core, MongoDB and/or SQL.
- Experience in developing HTTP-based APIs and implementation of RESTful services, as well as GraphQL
- Thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines with experience of Jenkins and/or CodePipeline
- Practices Test Driven Development and is comfortable with various test frameworks and concepts.
- Familiarisation with containerisation and tools like Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes
- Experience of developing, deploying, and maintaining Cloud-Based solutions on AWS
- Strong technical background in web development with JavaScript frameworks would be ideal
- Understand the principles behind what makes a high performing web page

Other Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience working with stakeholders from product management and other business areas to design and deliver a solution
- An interest in user experience and an appreciation for helping to solve the problem customers have
- A keen eye for detail and ability to articulate and digest technical and non-technical requirements to others
