About the role
Contract: Full-time, Remote (UK-based)
Team: Development Team
Hiring Manager & Reporting into: Head of Development
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who specialises in frontend development. At Rootshell, you’ll be working with a team of passionate engineers at an equal level.
You thrive on building intuitive, responsive user interfaces and have a keen eye for design, performance, and usability. While your strengths lie in the frontend, you’re no stranger to the backend—you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving into APIs, databases, and server-side logic when needed. We’re looking for people to bring their own AI (actual intelligence) to the job, while also having access to open-source models via AWS Bedrock and OpenCode to help support them.
If you enjoy owning features end-to-end and collaborating across disciplines to bring great products to life, we’d love to hear from you.
What you'll be working on:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack security software
- Writing clean, testable, and scalable PHP 8 code
- Building dynamic front-ends with Vue 3
- Supporting and maintaining open source software
- Implementing BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) practices

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
