About The Role
We are currently seeking a Full Stack Developer with expertise in React and Java to join our dynamic team on a 6-month+ ongoing contract basis. This role operates inside IR35 and offers remote working flexibility. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting a large-scale programme, providing technical guidance within an agile delivery environment. You will collaborate closely with the technical team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and efficient software solutions aligned with architectural standards such as MAPPS. Your contributions will directly impact the development of microservice architectures, ensuring the delivery of valuable system functionalities that meet client requirements and business objectives. The role demands a proactive approach, strong engineering discipline, and the ability to mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess senior-level experience with a proven track record in full-stack development, particularly in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript with React. Essential qualifications include:

- Extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React frameworks.
- Strong understanding of microservice architectures and best practices.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or similar systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of Docker containerization.
- Experience with test-driven development using tools like JUnit, Mockito, or equivalent libraries.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Jenkins or similar tools.
- Comfortable working in agile teams and collaborating across disciplines.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining high engineering standards and ensuring the delivery of quality software solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading by example in delivering sustainable, high-quality engineering outputs that adhere to coding standards and best practices.
- Maintaining rigorous testing strategies, code review processes, and realistic story point estimations.
- Challenging and improving code quality by reviewing pull requests and avoiding shortcuts that compromise standards.
- Supporting the Tech Team Lead by decomposing work into well-defined, testable, and observable stories aligned with readiness criteria.
- Mentoring team members to make sound design decisions, fostering good engineering behaviors, and escalating blockers promptly.
- Ensuring consistency across the wider solution landscape by understanding and aligning with architectural patterns and components.
- Maintaining high standards and resisting pressure to accept subpar code or rushed decisions.
- Engaging early with non-technical stakeholders such as project managers, delivery managers, and business analysts to clarify requirements and facilitate smooth development cycles.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and promoting a collaborative, agile working environment.
