About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer with expertise in React and Java to join our dynamic team on a long-term contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting a large-scale programme that requires robust technical guidance within an agile delivery environment. As a Full Stack Developer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including technical leads, product managers, and other stakeholders, to develop, enhance, and maintain complex microservice-based applications. Your primary focus will be to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions aligned with architectural best practices such as MAPPS. This position offers the flexibility of remote working and is inside IR35, operating under an umbrella company arrangement, with an initial contract duration of six months or longer, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven senior experience in Java development, particularly with Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
  • Extensive experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React framework for front-end development.
  • Strong understanding of microservice architectures and best practices in software engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies, particularly Docker.
  • Experience with test-driven development using frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools like Jenkins or equivalent.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within agile teams.
  • Good understanding of cloud services such as SNS, SQS, S3, Aurora/PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
  • Relevant professional certifications and a proven track record in delivering complex software solutions are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • As a Full Stack Developer, your core responsibilities will include maintaining high engineering standards and delivering sustainable, high-quality solutions.
  • Serve as a role model for best practices in coding, testing, and code review processes, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required quality benchmarks.
  • Shape and decompose work into manageable, testable stories, and support the team in making sound design decisions.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure alignment across the wider MAPPS solution landscape, reducing duplication and maintaining consistency of shared components.
  • Operate as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating clear communication, early engagement, and swift development cycles to uncover and address potential issues or requirements.
  • Proactively address problem-solving and quality assurance to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste, and ensure timely delivery of value to the customer.
  • Support the technical lead in shaping architectural decisions, defining standards, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Challenge poor-quality pull requests, advocate for sustainable engineering, and support continuous integration and deployment processes.
