About The Role
We are partnering with a dynamic and expanding Financial Services company based in Weston-Super-Mare, seeking to enhance their technology team with a skilled Full Stack Java Developer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative digital solutions that significantly impact the company's operations, partners, and customers. As a key member of the IT development team, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle—from requirements gathering and technical architecture to design, coding, testing, and deployment. The position provides the chance to work on end-to-end cloud-based projects, develop system integrations, and help maintain the company's competitive edge through technological innovation. - Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Computer Science, Technical Science, or an equivalent field
- Hands-on experience in J2EE software development projects, covering both front-end and back-end development
- Familiarity with testing practices, including JUnit, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing
- Solid understanding of J2EE, RESTful Web Services, and frameworks like React and Struts
- Strong coding skills in Java
- Experience with other programming languages such as C++, Python, Perl, or JavaScript is advantageous
- Proficiency with development tools like Git, SVN, and Eclipse
- Genuine interest in expanding technical skills, staying abreast of emerging trends, and applying innovative problem-solving approaches
- Resourcefulness, collaboration, and a pragmatic approach to delivering solutions are highly valued qualities
Responsibilities
- Act as a developer, integrator, and analyst for complex and technically challenging assignments, collaborating effectively with other team members to resolve production issues
- Participate in application walkthroughs and peer code reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all development activities, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for future reference
- Apply IT software standards and contribute to establishing team-specific best practices to promote consistency and efficiency
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and J2EE applications that support business needs within a complex IT ecosystem
- Follow best practices for build, deployment, and version control to ensure reliable and repeatable release processes
- Adopt a practical and hands-on approach, demonstrating willingness to engage directly with technical challenges to deliver effective solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop system integrations and ensure seamless functionality across platforms
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve development practices and solutions
