About The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a dynamic government organization on an initial six-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely within the UK, collaborating within an Agile, cross-functional delivery team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting modern web applications, RESTful APIs, and event-driven services that are critical to the organization’s digital transformation initiatives. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies such as Java 21, Spring Boot, React, and OpenShift, contributing to the development of cloud-native applications that are scalable, resilient, and secure.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in full-stack development with a focus on Java-based technologies. Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience with Java 21 and Spring Boot is required, along with proficiency in front-end frameworks such as React. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like OpenShift or Kubernetes is highly desirable. Candidates should have a solid understanding of RESTful API design, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native application development. Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and experience working within Agile methodologies are also important.
Responsibilities
The Senior Full Stack Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications and APIs that meet the organization’s requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze technical requirements
- Creating detailed technical specifications
- Implementing best practices for code quality and security
- Developing cloud-native solutions using Java 21, Spring Boot, and React
- Ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and services
- Supporting and troubleshooting live applications
- Optimizing performance
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentoring junior developers
- Participating in code reviews to uphold high standards of software quality
