About The Role

Fraser Carver Recruitment is currently working with a dynamic and expanding Financial Services company based in Weston-Super-Mare. Due to their continued growth and strategic initiatives, they are seeking a skilled Full Stack Java Developer to join their dedicated tech team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital solutions that provide tangible benefits to both partners and customers. As a key member of the development team, you will be involved in the entire project lifecycle—from gathering requirements and designing technical architectures to coding, testing, and deploying applications. You will work on innovative cloud-based projects, build integrations across multiple systems, and help shape the company's technological future. The role is ideal for a proactive developer eager to work on complex projects in a collaborative environment, leveraging modern tools and best practices to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience in J2EE software development, encompassing both front-end and back-end components.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and practices such as JUnit, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing.
  • Strong knowledge of J2EE architecture, RESTful Web Services, and experience with frameworks like React and Struts.
  • Proficiency in Java programming, with additional experience in languages such as C++, Python, Perl, or JavaScript considered advantageous.
  • Experience working with development tools including Git, SVN, and Eclipse.
  • A genuine interest in expanding technical expertise and staying current with emerging industry trends.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an innovative and resourceful approach to tackling technical challenges.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a developer, integrator, and analyst for complex and technically challenging assignments, working collaboratively with other team members to resolve production issues.
  • Participate in application walkthroughs, peer code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Create, maintain, and update comprehensive documentation for all development activities and system configurations.
  • Apply and promote IT software standards, helping to establish and refine team-specific best practices and development processes.
  • Build and maintain Java and J2EE applications to support evolving business requirements within a complex IT ecosystem.
  • Follow best practices for build, deployment, and version control to ensure seamless release cycles.
  • Maintain a practical and pragmatic approach, demonstrating willingness to get hands-on to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay ahead of technological advancements and industry trends, applying new knowledge to improve project outcomes.
