Full Stack Software Engineer - AI-First (Java, Angular)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer - AI-First (Java, Angular) based in United Kingdom.
Join a fully remote engineering environment focused on building high-scale software with modern AI-assisted development workflows.
You will work across the full stack, combining Java and Spring Boot on the backend with Angular and TypeScript on the frontend.
The role gives you significant ownership, from product decisions and system architecture through cloud infrastructure and deployment.
You will use AI coding agents as productivity tools, guiding and validating their output while maintaining strong engineering standards.
Because the platform handles sensitive global compliance data, security, reliability, and thoughtful technical design are central to your work.
You will operate within a small, autonomous, meeting-light team alongside product stakeholders and other experienced engineers.
The position offers substantial flexibility, international exposure, and access to modern AI tools designed to accelerate engineering impact.
Accountabilities
- Own the development and evolution of product features as part of an autonomous engineering team, collaborating closely with Product Managers on priorities and solutions.
- Build and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and TypeScript, adapting your focus between backend and frontend based on business and technical needs.
- Apply AI-first development practices using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, and similar AI agents to accelerate implementation and improve engineering productivity.
- Architect, implement, review, and validate AI-assisted code to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with engineering standards.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for applications, from system design and development through cloud infrastructure, deployment, and ongoing improvements.
- Apply modern security practices when designing and developing applications that handle sensitive compliance and business information.
- Identify potential vulnerabilities and technical risks, incorporating security-conscious thinking throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to a results-oriented, collaborative engineering culture with strong individual ownership and minimal unnecessary meetings.

Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with experience delivering production-grade applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and TypeScript, with the ability to work comfortably across frontend and backend development.
- Practical experience or strong interest in AI-assisted and agentic software development, including prompt engineering, AI coding assistants, or automated development workflows.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code, identify inaccuracies or vulnerabilities, and apply sound engineering judgment before integrating it into production systems.
- Experience with end-to-end software delivery, including system architecture, development, cloud environments, deployment, and application lifecycle ownership.
- Strong understanding of secure software development and modern cybersecurity risks; dedicated security research experience is not required.
- Self-directed and comfortable working in an autonomous, results-focused environment where engineers are expected to take initiative and make informed decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with fluent English required.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to continuously learn emerging AI development tools and methodologies.
