Full Stack Software Engineer - React, Next.js & Node.js

Work Setup: Hybrid - 3 days office based / 2 days WFH
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Full Stack Software Engineer ideally with React, Next.js and Node.js to join Robert Walters as a Consultant.
As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment with one of our clients, a British multinational asset management company. In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support.
The Role:
Are you a pragmatic, hands-on Full Stack Software Engineer who enjoys building modern digital products and solving complex business problems?
We're looking for a versatile engineer to join our client's Client Engagement & Digital Content Platforms team, working on modern digital platforms that support content management, distribution, search, analytics and client engagement across a global organisation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across the full technology stack - from React and Next.js on the frontend through to Node.js, APIs and cloud-native services on the backend.
You'll have genuine ownership across the software development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment, monitoring and production support.
What you'll be doing:
- Build and maintain modern full stack applications using React.js, Next.js and Node.js
- Develop responsive, accessible and high-performing digital experiences
- Design and build backend services, APIs and integrations
- Work across the full SDLC, including design, development, testing, deployment and production support
- Build and maintain automated tests and contribute to strong engineering standards
- Support CI/CD pipelines, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code
- Work with cloud technologies and cloud-native architectures
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, software quality and delivery
- Monitor and support production applications, improving performance, reliability and maintainability
- Integrate with Headless CMS platforms and SaaS services
- Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX, Marketing, Sales and Digital stakeholders
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, showcases and retrospectives
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify practical opportunities to improve products and engineering processes
- Take ownership of technical solutions from initial idea through to delivery

You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience developing and supporting modern full stack applications
- Strong commercial experience with React.js
- Experience with Next.js or a similar modern web framework
- Strong Node.js backend development experience
- Experience building and consuming APIs and integrations
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and maintainable architecture
- Experience with cloud technologies - Azure would be advantageous
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code
- Understanding of automated testing and modern quality engineering practices
- Experience integrating with Headless CMS platforms
- Familiarity with application monitoring, observability and production support
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
