Pay: £26,436.80 per annum

Due to a recent upturn in business levels, a new and exciting Commis Chef role has become available at the Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff! Are you passionate about food and able to multi-task your way through a shift..? As a Commis Chef you're an aspiring chef capable of basic cookery skills and working as part of a fast-paced kitchen. With a ready to ‘hit the ground running’ attitude, you'll be capable of supporting the kitchen to consistently produce top quality dishes under pressure. We are happy to develop and train any capable and willing Head Chefs of the future! In return we ask for your full concentration and commitment to delivering high quality products to our guests at all times. We are looking for a Commis Chef to join our experienced and hard-working team due to a recent upturn in hotel business – it’s a great time to join us!

Responsibilities of a Commis Chef:

  • Having a passion for food and being capable of professional communication with other departments at all times
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in all government Health and Food Safety legislation including HACCP, ensuring all necessary checks are completed throughout the kitchen (both quality and safety checks)
  • Ensuring our dishes are always at their best & to the standards as agreed with the team but in line with brand expectations, preparing “Dish Recipe Cards” and ensuring all Allergen information is readily available
  • Making sure food items are secure and stored safely - keeping stocks replenished to minimise waste and ensuring that all kitchen equipment and environment are hygienic and working properly

The ideal candidate for this role would have:

  • Previous experience in 4* hotel is desirable, although full training is provided
  • Good communications skills with a positive and energetic nature
  • It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important
  • Flexible attitude to shifts – you may need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
