About the Role
YMCA Wellington & District is looking for a caring, motivated, and organised Enablement Officer to support young people living in our accommodation.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will manage a caseload of tenants, provide one-to-one support, and help young people develop the skills and confidence they need to live more independently.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated caseload of young people.
- Build positive and professional relationships with tenants.
- Complete, carry out, and regularly update individual support plans.
- Use Outcome Star to assess tenants’ needs, set goals, and measure progress.
- Implement YMCA Wellington & District’s Support Pathway and Practice Framework.
- Provide flexible one-to-one support in areas including budgeting, benefits, health, relationships, education, employment, and maintaining a licence.
- Teach practical life skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, travelling independently, and preparing for interviews.
- Help plan, promote, and deliver group activities for tenants.
- Encourage tenants to participate in wellbeing, social, educational, and community-based activities.
- Complete Thrive Telford assessments and ensure required information is recorded within agreed timescales.
- Work with housing colleagues and external agencies to provide joined-up support.
- Support tenants to access education, employment, training, and volunteering opportunities.
- Help tenants prepare for a positive and sustainable move into independent accommodation.
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, support plans, Outcome Stars, and other records.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with YMCA procedures.

About You
You will:
- Be caring, patient, reliable, and non-judgemental.
- Be able to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Be confident supporting young people with a range of needs and challenges.
- Understand person-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support.
- Be organised and able to maintain accurate records.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and its tenants.

Experience
