Functional Analyst

About The Role

Technology and innovation are at the heart of how we continue to improve services for our residents and communities. As a Functional Analyst (ERP), you'll play a key role in supporting and developing the Council’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform and associated business systems, helping to ensure colleagues across the organisation can work efficiently, effectively and in line with statutory requirements.

Working within our Enterprise Applications team, you'll act as a subject matter expert for the Unit4 Business World ERP system, supporting users, driving system improvements and helping to identify opportunities to maximise the value of our technology investments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong ERP knowledge who enjoys combining technical expertise, problem solving and stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful business improvements.

What will you be doing?

• You’ll provide expert support and guidance to ERP users across the organisation, helping to resolve complex issues, improve processes and ensure the smooth operation of critical business systems.
• Working closely with colleagues, shared service partners and suppliers, you'll contribute to system development projects, enhancements and upgrades, ensuring changes are thoroughly tested, documented and successfully implemented.
• A key aspect of the role will involve analysing user requirements, translating business needs and legislative changes into technical solutions and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and better use of system functionality.
• You’ll maintain a strong understanding of ERP modules, reporting tools, interfaces and data flows, helping to maintain system integrity and support informed decision-making across the organisation.
• You'll also support knowledge sharing and capability development by providing advice, training and guidance to colleagues, creating user documentation and helping to ensure best practice is embedded across the ERP environment.

About You

• You’re an experienced ERP professional with strong technical and analytical skills and a passion for using technology to improve services.
• You have experience supporting or developing enterprise business systems and are confident analysing issues, identifying solutions and translating complex technical information into practical guidance for a range of audiences.
• You bring excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to work effectively with managers, system users, technical teams and external partners.
• You’re highly organised, capable of managing competing priorities and comfortable working in an environment where accuracy, data integrity and service quality are essential.
