Functional Assessor (PIP) Exeter – £42,000 + Hybrid Working

Start 2027 | 3 days on-site / 2 days from home

Ready to step off the clinical treadmill without stepping away from clinical practice? We're expanding our Functional Assessor team for PIP assessments — and we're recruiting now for roles starting next year.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carrying out face-to-face and telephone/video functional assessments for people claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Reviewing medical evidence and claimant histories to build a clear, accurate clinical picture
  • Conducting structured consultations that explore how a person's health condition affects their day-to-day life
  • Producing detailed, well-reasoned written reports that inform DWP decision-making
  • Applying clinical judgement and critical reasoning within a structured assessment framework
  • Working to quality and productivity standards within a supportive, audited environment
  • Collaborating with a wider clinical team, including access to peer support, clinical leads, and ongoing case discussion

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Why apply:

  • Use your clinical skills differently. No more physically demanding shifts, back-to-back caseloads, or unsocial hours — this is desk and consultation-based clinical work with real structure.
  • Predictable, sustainable working life. Set hours, no nights, no weekends, no on-call. A genuine work-life reset for clinicians who've spent years in front-line or shift-based roles.
  • Meaningful work. You'll be the clinical voice that helps ensure people get a fair, evidence-based assessment of how their health condition affects their life — often at a vulnerable and stressful point for them.
  • Strong earning potential from day one. £42,000 starting salary with a clear progression pathway.
  • Career development. Structured training, CPD, and routes into Lead Assessor, Clinical Trainer, or Quality roles as you build experience.
  • Hybrid flexibility. 3 days on-site, 2 days from home — a working pattern many clinicians simply can't get elsewhere.
