Job Title: Workday Functional Consultant
Location: Fully Remote (must be based in the UK)
Role Type: 6-month Contract - Outside IR35
Day Rate: Up to £400 p/d
Our client is a global consultancy looking to bring in an experienced Workday Functional Consultant on an initial 6-month contract, with a high likelihood of further extension.
The role will focus on the functional configuration and ongoing development of Workday, working closely with HR and Payroll stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate these into effective Workday solutions.
This is a hands-on functional role, with responsibility across Workday configuration, business processes, functional design, and supporting integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain Workday modules across Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Performance, and Learning
- Configure and maintain Workday business processes, workflows, security roles, and approval processes
- Lead functional design sessions with local HR and Payroll teams
- Ensure Workday captures all required information for downstream payroll processing, including new starters, terminations, leave of absence, earnings, deductions, and allowances
- Support integration activities between Workday and other systems
- Create and maintain calculated fields, condition rules, validation rules, and eligibility rules
- Gather business requirements and translate these into Workday configuration solutions
- Work closely with HR and Payroll stakeholders to understand requirements and provide functional solutions

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience working as a Workday Functional Consultant
- Hands-on experience configuring Workday
- Strong understanding of Workday business processes and configuration
- Experience across core Workday HCM functionality
- Experience working closely with HR and/or Payroll teams
- Strong understanding of requirements gathering and functional design
- Experience with Workday business processes, calculated fields, condition rules, and validation rules

Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience across multiple Workday modules
- Experience supporting Workday integrations with other systems
- Previous experience working within a consultancy environment
- Experience working on complex Workday transformation or implementation programmes
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working independently within a project environment
