Functional Skills Tutor
Hours: 21-37 hours per week | 47 weeks per year | Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm
Salary: £26,500 per annum (pro rata)
Contract: Permanent
We're looking for a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to meet the needs of our SEND and SEMH young people. This is more than teaching. You'll build trusted relationships, engage learners who may have had negative experiences of education, and help them move towards employment, training and greater independence.

What You'll Do
- Deliver Functional Skills (English, Maths), Employability and Life Skills sessions.
- Create a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Help learners overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
- Track progress and celebrate success.
- Support CV writing, applications and interview preparation.
- Develop work experience, volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Work closely with colleagues, families and professionals.
- Champion safeguarding and student wellbeing.
What You'll Bring
Essential
- Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent).
- Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH and/or behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
- Good safeguarding knowledge.

Desirable
- Functional Skills teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood pathways.
- Trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support experience.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms.
