Job Description

As a Functional Specialist at Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service), you’ll use your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a different way —to meet with benefits claimants (in person or via video link), write in-depth reports, and make critical clinical recommendations—all while enjoying a structured and flexible work schedule.

Work Arrangements

  • Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
  • Monday to Friday (8am–5pm), with occasional 8pm finishes (no weekend/night shifts)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: £39,500 (rising to £40,500 after DWP approval)
  • 10% salary bonus scheme (based on quality and performance)
  • Hybrid working: Up to 3 days per week (home/off-site)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured assessments to evaluate how health conditions impact daily living
  • Observe, listen, and gather information empathetically
  • Analyse clinical evidence and supporting documentation
  • Produce detailed reports (3,000–4,000 words) with clear clinical justification to support DWP decisions
  • Stay updated on a range of medical conditions

Expectations

  • Complete up to 3 assessments daily (face-to-face/via video/telephone)
  • Work clinic-based or remotely (as defined in our hybrid model)

Requirements: About You

✅ NMC-registered (RGN, RMN, or RNLD) or HCPC registration with valid PIN and no current restrictions

✅ At least 1 year post-registration experience

✅ Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and empathy

We deliver the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) for government, supporting claims for PIP, ESA, and Universal Credit via structured health assessments.


Security & Compliance

  • Government baseline vetting required
  • Enhanced criminal checks (spent/unspent convictions disclosed)
  • Regulated activity under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (exempt from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act)
