FUND CONTROLLER | Real Estate Investment
OUR CLIENT is a leading UK-based real estate investment and asset management firm with a strong track record across the commercial property sector. They are established and highly regarded and now seek to appoint a Fund Controller within its Fund Finance team. This is a high-impact role for a qualified accountant with strong real estate fund control experience, looking to combine technical expertise with genuine commercial and business partnering responsibility.
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Fund Finance Head, you will take ownership of the financial affairs of a portfolio of commercial real estate funds, LPs, SPVs and associated holding structures. You will work closely with Investment, Asset Management, Investor Relations and Finance, providing financial insight and control throughout the investment lifecycle – from acquisitions and refinancing through to disposals and business plan execution.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Ownership of fund financial management, reporting and financial control.
- Oversight of financial close and management/investor reporting.
- Fund and asset-level liquidity forecasting and treasury management.
- Capital calls, investor distributions and cash management.
- Lender compliance, covenant monitoring and waterfall calculations.
- Investor, lender and board-level reporting and analysis.
- Leading annual audits and oversight of statutory accounts.
- Review of tax, VAT and other statutory compliance.
- Financial analysis and due diligence supporting acquisitions, disposals and refinancing.
- Business partnering with Investment and Asset Management teams.
- Supervision, review and development of junior finance professionals.
- Driving improvements to fund finance processes, controls, systems and reporting.

WHAT THE PLATFORM OFFERS:
This is an opportunity to join a well-established real estate investment business with a strong institutional approach, sophisticated investment structures and a collaborative, high-performing finance function.
The role offers:
- Significant exposure across commercial real estate funds and investment structures.
- Direct interaction with senior Investment, Asset Management and Finance stakeholders.
- Exposure to acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and wider investment activity.
- The opportunity to influence financial and commercial decision-making.
- Responsibility for developing and mentoring junior team members.
- Scope to improve processes, reporting and systems across the Fund Finance function.
- A role with genuine visibility and progression within the wider business.
THE PERSON:
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 5+ years' post-qualified experience and a strong background in real estate fund accounting or financial control.
You should bring:
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
- Experience across real estate investment structures and fund/partnership accounting.
- Good understanding of debt financing, covenants and lender requirements.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS / UK GAAP and relevant tax considerations.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
- Commercial awareness and a solutions-focused approach.
- Confidence engaging with investors, lenders, auditors and senior stakeholders.
- Experience reviewing and developing junior finance professionals.
- Experience with BLUEBOX / TRAMPS, YARDI or MRI would be advantageous.
