Fund Controller / Financial Controller - Real Estate Investment Management

Hybrid (3 days a week in the office)

An institutionally backed, entrepreneurial real estate investment platform, managing c€1 billion of industrial and logistics assets across the UK and Europe, is seeking a Fund Controller / Financial Controller to work alongside the Finance Director as its portfolio expands.

As the number two in finance, you will take ownership of a broad remit spanning fund accounting, investor reporting, treasury and transaction support, while helping build a scalable European finance function.

This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial business with direct exposure to its founding partners, institutional investors and lenders. The role centres on ownership, oversight and review rather than day-to-day bookkeeping, but requires someone comfortable getting into the detail.

The role

  • Oversee fund and property-company accounting across a multi-entity, international structure, reviewing and challenging work prepared by outsourced administrators and accountants.
  • Review investor reporting and prepare lender compliance reporting, supporting capital accounts, investment returns, distribution waterfalls, capital calls and distributions.
  • Own acquisition and disposal funds flows, coordinating with investment teams, lawyers, administrators, lenders and capital partners through to completion.
  • Manage group cash flow and treasury, including forecasting, capital expenditure tracking, multi-currency accounts, debt drawdowns and refinancing support.
  • Coordinate audits, consolidated accounts and statutory filings, ensuring external advisers deliver accurate work to agreed deadlines.
  • Oversee tax and regulatory compliance with specialist advisers, including VAT, corporate tax, cross-border matters and UK REIT requirements.
  • Develop budgets, controls and reporting processes, oversee management-company financials and introduce systems and automation that support continued growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
