About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading international investment management business to appoint a Fund Controller to support a leading Global Real estate firm.
This is a broad and highly visible role, offering responsibility across fund reporting, fund operations, treasury, investor support, tax compliance and strategic projects. You'll work closely with senior leaders, investment professionals and external service providers, playing a key role in maintaining robust financial governance while driving operational excellence.
This opportunity has the potential to move into a Director-level position over the next couple years.
The Role
As a senior member of the fund finance team, you will oversee the financial management and reporting of complex investment structures, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, governance and regulatory compliance.
Working across multiple jurisdictions, you'll partner with internal teams and third-party providers to deliver high-quality reporting, support investment activity and identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Fund Oversight
- Lead the quarterly financial reporting cycle for a portfolio of alternative investment vehicles.
- Review investment valuations to ensure compliance with internal valuation policies and recognised industry standards.
- Oversee financial reporting prepared by third-party administrators, including fund accounts, investor distributions and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate the production of investor reporting, validating financial information and performance metrics.
- Review fund accounting data, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies with external service providers.
- Manage the year-end financial statement process and coordinate external audits.
Performance & Fee Management
- Oversee fund performance calculations and reporting.
- Maintain complex fee models, including performance-based fee calculations and related adjustments.
- Review fund expense allocations and ongoing cost reporting.
- Validate management fee calculations and investor-specific arrangements in line with agreed contractual terms.

Treasury & Liquidity
- Monitor cash positions and oversee short-term liquidity management.
- Support treasury activities, including financing arrangements and cash forecasting.
- Work closely with internal treasury specialists to manage funding requirements and optimise cash deployment.
Investor & Business Support
- Assist with the preparation of investor communications, due diligence responses and fundraising materials.
- Provide accurate financial and performance information to support investor and consultant requests.
- Act as a trusted finance contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Work alongside external advisers to manage filings, registrations and ongoing regulatory obligations.
- Support compliance with relevant international reporting standards and fund regulations.
Transaction Support
- Assist with the financial due diligence process for new investments.
- Review operational controls and supporting documentation during investment execution.
- Coordinate transaction activity with investment, legal, operations and external administration teams to ensure efficient execution.
Stakeholder & Service Provider Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with external fund administrators, auditors and professional advisers.
- Monitor service quality, challenge performance where appropriate and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Partner with senior finance and investment stakeholders, providing insight and financial support across the investment lifecycle.
- Prepare reporting and presentations for governance committees and senior decision-makers.

- Coach and support junior team members, providing technical guidance and reviewing work where appropriate.
- Drive process improvements across finance operations, identifying opportunities for automation, enhanced controls and improved data quality.
- Champion the use of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve reporting efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, business change programmes and the establishment of new investment structures as required.
About You
You'll be a technically strong finance professional with experience operating within complex investment structures and a genuine interest in improving processes and delivering commercial value.
Essential
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
- Approximately five or more years' post-qualified experience.
- Previous experience within Real estate, alternative investments, real assets, fund administration or a leading professional services firm.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, fund accounting and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and excellent analytical capability.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding reporting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing relationships with external service providers and cross-functional teams.
Desirable
- Knowledge of international accounting standards and industry valuation principles.
- Experience working with multi-jurisdictional investment structures.
- Familiarity with fund accounting platforms and investment reporting systems.
- Exposure to treasury, liquidity management or investment operations.
- Experience implementing process improvements, automation or finance transformation initiatives.
- Working knowledge of AI-enabled productivity tools and data-driven reporting solutions.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring junior finance professionals.
