This is a high-impact Fund Controller opportunity with OUR CLIENT - a highly regarded UK real estate investment and asset management business with an established track record across the commercial real estate sector and is looking to appoint an experienced Fund Controller to join its Fund Finance team.

This is a broad, commercially focused role for a qualified accountant with strong real estate fund control experience, offering genuine exposure to investment activity, transactions, debt, liquidity and senior stakeholders.

Reporting to the Fund Finance lead, you will have ownership of the financial affairs of a portfolio of commercial real estate funds, LPs, SPVs and associated holding structures.

You will work closely with Investment, Asset Management, Investor Relations and Finance, providing financial insight and control across the investment lifecycle - from acquisitions and refinancing through to disposals, business planning and portfolio management.

THE ROLE

You will take ownership across a broad range of fund finance and investment-related activities, including:

  • Ownership of fund financial management, reporting and financial control.
  • Management of financial close and management / investor reporting.
  • Fund and asset-level cashflow, liquidity forecasting and treasury management.
  • Capital calls, investor distributions and cash management.
  • Debt, covenant monitoring, lender compliance and waterfall calculations.
  • Investor, lender and board-level reporting and analysis.
  • Leading annual audits and oversight of statutory accounts.
  • Review of tax, VAT and other statutory compliance.
  • Financial analysis and due diligence supporting acquisitions, disposals and refinancing.
  • Business partnering with Investment and Asset Management teams, providing insight and challenge.
  • Review, supervision and development of junior finance professionals.
  • Driving improvements across fund finance processes, controls, systems and reporting.

WHY THIS ROLE?

This is an opportunity to move beyond a predominantly production-focused Fund Accounting role and take on a broader investment-side Fund Finance position.

You will gain:

  • Significant exposure to commercial real estate funds and complex investment structures.
  • Direct interaction with senior Investment, Asset Management and Finance stakeholders.
  • Involvement in acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and wider investment activity.
  • Responsibility for fund and asset-level liquidity, cashflow and debt oversight.
  • The opportunity to influence financial and commercial decision-making.
  • Responsibility for mentoring and developing junior finance professionals.
  • Scope to improve processes, systems, controls and reporting.
  • Strong visibility within the wider business and genuine long-term career progression.

THE PERSON

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 5+ years' post-qualified experience and a strong background in real estate fund accounting, fund control or investment finance.

You are likely to bring:

  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise within real estate investment.
  • Experience across real estate funds, partnerships, LPs, SPVs and investment structures.
  • A good understanding of real estate debt, financing structures, covenants and lender requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS / UK GAAP and relevant tax considerations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including cashflow forecasting, financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a solutions-focused approach.
  • Confidence engaging with Investment teams, investors, lenders, auditors and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing, mentoring and developing junior finance professionals.
