The Role

Are you a recognised investment leader with a passion for identifying best-in-class investment talent and delivering exceptional client outcomes?

Vanguard is seeking an accomplished Fund Open Architecture Specialist to lead and evolve our Open Architecture capability across Europe. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how external investment expertise is integrated into Vanguard's multi-asset solutions, influencing investment strategy, product innovation, and portfolio construction at scale.

As Vanguard's leading authority on Open Architecture, you will work at the intersection of Investments, Product, Distribution, and Client Strategy, driving the vision for how external managers can enhance our offering and help deliver superior outcomes for investors. This highly visible leadership role combines strategic thinking, investment expertise, stakeholder influence, governance oversight, and client engagement, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact across the business and for the clients we serve.

In this role you will

  • Define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Vanguard's Open Architecture capability across Europe. Identify where external investment expertise can enhance Vanguard's multi-asset solutions across asset classes, products, and markets, leveraging insights into client needs, industry trends, and competitor developments to strengthen our offering and support business growth
  • Serve as the client portfolio manager for Open Architecture solutions, supporting client engagement and servicing activities while clearly articulating Vanguard's views on manager developments, investment strategies, and portfolio positioning
  • Act as the firm's regional subject matter expert on Open Architecture, providing strategic guidance on external managers, investment strategies, portfolio construction, and manager selection to sales teams, portfolio managers, product teams, and senior stakeholders
  • Lead regional Open Architecture governance and model health processes, coordinating analysis, reporting, recommendations, and materials for governance forums while ensuring timely escalation and resolution of manager-related developments and risks
  • Partner closely with Vanguard's Oversight & Manager Search (OMS) team to support manager research, search, and oversight activities. Help shape review priorities, coordinate the ongoing monitoring of external managers and strategies, and ensure developments, ratings, conviction assessments, and recommended actions are appropriately reflected in governance, portfolio, and implementation decisions
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of high-quality client-facing content, including manager updates, investment communications, sales collateral, portfolio commentary, training materials, and thought leadership related to Open Architecture and external managers
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across Investments, OMS, Product, Distribution, Marketing, Risk, and Operations, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities, governance activities, and implementation decisions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
