We are looking for an excellent and personable communicator with professional fundraising experience to help us bring our fundraising strategy to life! We work with extremely vulnerable women who rely on our ongoing support. Can you Help?
What difference will you make?
- You will become part of a dedicated team who are passionate about the support we provide.
- Often the only trusted place, Joanna project serves over 150 different women each year through advocacy, 1:1 support, and practical help, sometimes at the most desperate point of need.
- Many of the women that we support are street homeless; we act as a safe place to come and get washed, fed, and get some protected sleep.
- We also support women through our prison visits seeking to establish relationships to ensure a safe and protected release.
There are many areas of work that we need to expand just to meet the current needs of the women that we serve and this role will form a vital piece in the team in order to help us to do that.
Joanna Project currently has a Director, Grant and Fundraising Manager, Office and Finance Manager, Outreach and Support Manager, and 3 Outreach and Support Workers. We have a dedicated team of 20 volunteers that take part in evening outreach and also serve in Joanna House, making refreshments and food for our wonderful women, making them feel at home.

What are we looking for?
- You should have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and confidently to current and prospective funders.
- Be willing to represent Joanna Project at networking events in and around the city, developing new relationships with potential corporate supporters.
- Have excellent knowledge and experience of the charity sector and the current funding climate.
- A wide understanding of fundraising and its significance for small charities.
- Be able to develop a specific funding strategy to lead on our new project, reaching out to corporate sponsors and also individual givers.
- The ability to motivate a team to share in our vision and values and be confident in speaking about Joanna Project.
- Excellent report writing and written communication skills in order to convey our important work to potential funders.
- The ability to work closely with and take direction from the Grant and Fundraising Manager on shared goals and purpose.

What will you be doing?
We are looking for a proactive fundraising professional who can work as part of a team whilst taking an active lead in developing new relationships with corporates and individual clients in Leeds and the surrounding areas. Reporting to the Grant Fundraising Manager and the Director, you will use your knowledge and experience to have an influence on our current and ongoing fundraising strategy, positively impacting on the lives of vulnerable women in Leeds.
Joanna Project is a non-commissioned charity in the heart of Leeds. We work with extremely vulnerable women who have, or are currently, street sex working. We rely on grants, individual regular givers, and one-off donations to fund our crucial work in Leeds. We are a small charity that has been working in this field for 22 years and we are needed now more than ever. We are keen to grow both in reach and impact and to do that we need people with vision, expertise, and knowledge to help us develop varied income streams.
