Fundraising and Income Generation Trustee – Nature's SAFE
Volunteer: Trustee Role
Location: Remote, with occasional meetings (HQ in Shropshire)
Commitment: Approximately 8–10 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings, quarterly fundraising committee meetings and the AGM
Remuneration: Voluntary / unpaid
About Nature's SAFE
Nature's SAFE is a science-led conservation charity working to protect biodiversity and safeguard the future of endangered species. Through wildlife cryobanking, research and collaboration, we are building vital genetic resources that can support conservation now and into the future. We work across the conservation sector with zoos, universities, research organisations and conservation partners in the UK and internationally.
Nature's SAFE is entering an exciting period of growth. We are looking for a Fundraising Trustee who can help us build a sustainable revenue model to support our growth.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced fundraising / income-generation professional who can bring strategic thinking, practical experience and strong networks to the charity. This is an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the financial sustainability of a growing conservation organisation.
In the initial stages, we are particularly looking for someone who is willing to be hands-on as well as strategic, helping us open doors, develop relationships with potential corporate partners and funders, shape our fundraising proposition and develop our sustainable income-generation strategy.

- Help develop a sustainable and diversified income-generation strategy aligned with Nature's SAFE's conservation mission and long-term ambitions.
- Provide strategic advice on the development of our fundraising model, including corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, major donors, individual giving and other appropriate income streams.
- Help identify and open doors to potential corporate partners, funders and philanthropic supporters, using your professional networks and relationships where appropriate.
- Support the development of compelling propositions for corporate partners and other potential funders.
- In the early stages, provide practical support in progressing fundraising opportunities and relationships, working alongside the COO.
- Help establish appropriate fundraising targets, KPIs, budgets and processes so that progress can be measured and managed.
- Help articulate the value of Nature's SAFE's work to audiences outside the conservation sector, particularly potential corporate and philanthropic supporters.
- Work with fellow trustees and executive team to develop a culture in which fundraising is a shared responsibility across the Board.
- Provide appropriate oversight to ensure fundraising is ethical, compliant and aligned with charity regulations and best practice.
- Contribute to the wider governance and strategic direction of the charity as a member of the Board.
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have:
- Significant experience in fundraising, business development, corporate partnerships, philanthropy or income generation.
- A demonstrable track record of developing relationships and generating income.
- The confidence and ability to open doors and make introductions to potential corporate partners, funders or supporters.
- Experience of developing or implementing a sustainable income-generation or fundraising strategy.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.
- The ability to represent a growing conservation charity with credibility, professionalism and enthusiasm.
- A genuine interest in conservation, biodiversity, science or environmental issues.
