Charity Overview
The Thomas Theyer Foundation supports Children and Young People (SEN) with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those experiencing difficult life circumstances, as well as their families and carers. The focus of the charity is the physical and mental health of its CYP beneficiaries. It promotes the health benefits of exercise by providing access to outdoor activities and in 2021 it launched an early-intervention counselling service to help address long waiting times for local and national mental health support. Established in memory of Thomas Samuel Theyer, who died at the age of 18 in 2013, the Thomas Theyer Foundation became a registered charity in 2015 and continues to grow its impact in the community.
Role Overview
The Fundraising and Operations Lead is a part-time (2-2.5 days per week) on-site role based in Buxton. The successful applicant will manage fundraising activity across all income streams and, working alongside the Counselling Services Lead, ensure the effective day to day running of the charity and on-going sustainability.

This is a part-time role, 2 – 2.5 days per week. Applications are open to those seeking employment or on a self-employed basis.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience and proven success in fundraising, including individual giving, grant applications, events, and partnership development.
- Strong operations and administration skills, with the ability to coordinating projects and manage day-to-day office functions.
- Financial literacy, including basic budgeting, monitoring income and expenditure, and preparing reports for stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage donors, partners, beneficiaries, and volunteers.
- Organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and able to use social media tools such as Instagram and Facebook.
- Previous experience in the charity, community, or education sector, particularly with children, young people, or mental health services, is highly beneficial.
- Relevant education or training in fundraising, non-profit management, business, or a related field is an advantage, though equivalent experience will be considered.
