Fundraising & Operations Manager

Salary: £38,000–£44,000 FTE, pro rata for the agreed number of days per week, depending on experience - see 'Pay and Benefits' below for detail

Location: Remote / home-based, with regular travel to London required to meet donors, prospects and the Beyond team

Reporting to: CEO

Key working relationships: CEO, COO, Head of Operations, Trustees, Youth Board Manager, freelance bid writer/trust fundraiser, external ambassadors and volunteers

Youth mental health charity, Beyond, is growing, and we're looking for a versatile, hands-on Fundraising & Operations Manager to help us build the income and the infrastructure that will sustain that growth.

This is a dual role. On one side, you'll be a front-facing fundraiser: researching, cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners, and representing Beyond confidently and warmly in donor meetings, including regular in-person meetings in London. On the other, you'll be the person who makes sure the fundraising engine actually runs — owning our supporter database, our income processes, our reporting, and the systems that let a small, largely remote team work efficiently and compliantly.

We don't yet have the scale to justify a Head of Fundraising, or separate fundraising and operations roles so we need someone equally comfortable picking up the phone to a major donor and getting under the bonnet of a CRM. You'll work closely with the CEO and Trustees to shape and deliver fundraising priorities, but the emphasis throughout is on personal delivery: building the pipeline, closing the gift, and keeping the data and systems behind it clean, current and useful.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced fundraiser with a genuine interest in systems and process, or an operations-minded fundraising generalist, to help shape both the income and the infrastructure of a growing youth mental health charity from an early stage.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Development

  • Research, identify and cultivate prospective major donors, trusts, foundations and corporate partners.
  • Personally write compelling proposals, applications and cases for support, managing the full cycle from research through to reporting.
  • Build and manage a fundraising pipeline, ensuring accurate, timely record-keeping and follow-up in Beyond's CRM.
  • Manage and coordinate Beyond's freelance bid writer/trust fundraiser, agreeing priorities and deadlines, and working together on the pipeline of trust and foundation applications and funder reports to ensure a consistent quality and voice.
  • Plan and attend donor and prospect meetings, including regular travel to London, representing Beyond and, where appropriate, briefing and accompanying the CEO or Trustees.
  • Develop and deliver stewardship communications for existing donors, including personalised updates, thank-you communications and impact reporting.
  • Work with the CEO to identify new income opportunities and revenue streams, and to prioritise effort where it will have the greatest impact.
  • Support the recruitment, briefing and coordination of ambassadors and volunteers who help open doors to new supporters.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of Beyond's case for support materials.
  • Keep abreast of fundraising trends, regulation and best practice, ensuring Beyond's approach remains current and compliant.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Operations & Systems

  • Act as Beyond's in-house lead for the CRM/supporter database, ensuring records are accurate, clean, deduplicated and well maintained.
  • Record and reconcile income across all streams (major donors, trusts, corporates, individual giving, events), working with the CEO/Finance on monthly reconciliation and correct coding.
  • Manage Gift Aid declarations and claims.
  • Produce regular income, pipeline and KPI reporting for the CEO and Trustees.
  • Own data compliance across fundraising activity, including UK GDPR, PECR and the Fundraising Code of Practice — managing consent, communication preferences and suppression lists.
  • Act as the point person for prospect research activity, ensuring any tools or third-party providers used are compliant with data protection requirements and best practice.
  • Create and maintain templates, workflows and simple systems that make fundraising and stewardship more efficient as Beyond grows.
  • Provide light-touch administrative support for fundraising events (registrations, sponsorship tracking, data imports) as needed.
  • Identify and help implement improvements to operational processes and systems, escalating and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

General

  • Work in accordance with Beyond's vision, mission and values, and all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Follow Beyond's safeguarding policy and procedures at all times.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the role as Beyond's needs evolve.

About You

You'll be a fundraiser at heart who also enjoys, or is genuinely willing to own, the operational and data side of the job. You'll be equally comfortable in a donor meeting in London and working through a data cleanse or a reporting dashboard at your desk.

Essential

  • A proven track record in fundraising, with demonstrable experience securing income from major donors, trusts and foundations and/or corporate partners.
  • Experience managing a CRM or database and working with/building bespoke GPTs, using data and reporting to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing compelling proposals, cases for support or donor reports.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to represent a small charity to senior donors and stakeholders.
  • A genuine interest in, and appetite for, operational processes, systems and data hygiene, not just fundraising delivery.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage a varied and independent workload with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • A solid working understanding of UK GDPR, PECR and fundraising compliance and best practice.
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on generalist within a small, largely remote charity team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to London on a regular basis for donor and prospect meetings.

Desirable

  • Experience of fundraising and/or operations within the youth, mental health or wider health and wellbeing sector.
  • Experience with common sector CRM platforms (e.g. Donorfy, Beacon, Salesforce or similar).
  • Experience setting up or improving fundraising systems and processes from an early stage.
  • Experience working within a small or scaling charity, or in a remote/hybrid team.
  • Experience within the charity sector is an advantage, but we're just as interested in transferable experience from smaller or resource-constrained organisations where you've had to be a genuine generalist.
