Radio Folkestone is Folkestone’s community radio station and the only FM station based in the town. Founded in 2011, it broadcasts 24/7 to over 60,000 people locally on FM and to listeners worldwide online. The station offers music-led programming presented by local people, including breakfast shows, local sport, community news, fundraising features, and specialist music. As a community non-profit, Radio Folkestone provides affordable on-air advertising and sponsorship options to help local businesses reach audiences at home, at work, and on the move. The station is community-run and welcomes new presenters, volunteers, guests, and show ideas from people who want to get involved.
Role Description
The Fundraising Coordinator is a volunteer role responsible for helping Radio Folkestone secure the resources needed to sustain and grow its community programming. In this hybrid position, based in Folkestone with the option for some work from home, the coordinator will research potential donors and sponsors, develop fundraising ideas, and support grant applications and funding proposals. Day-to-day activities include planning and delivering fundraising campaigns and events, building relationships with local businesses and community partners, and coordinating on-air and online fundraising initiatives with the station’s team. The role also involves tracking fundraising activities, maintaining accurate records, and reporting progress to station leadership to ensure transparency and impact.

Qualifications
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Fundraising and Philanthropy skills to support donor outreach, sponsorship development, and grant or funding proposals.
- Event Planning skills to organize and coordinate community fundraising events and promotional activities.
- Basic organizational and administrative skills, including record-keeping, follow-up tracking, and time management.
- Familiarity with online tools and social media to support digital fundraising campaigns and promotional content.
- A genuine interest in community media, local engagement, and the mission of a non-profit radio station.
