About Been There
Been There is a UK charity providing peer support for adults experiencing body image challenges and eating disorders.
We believe nobody should have to navigate these struggles alone. Through our trained volunteer Peer Mentors, we connect adults experiencing body image challenges (our Mentees) with someone who has lived experience and truly understands what they are going through.
Our Peer Mentor Programme combines the power of lived experience with robust training, safeguarding processes, clinical oversight and ongoing support. Our service is delivered by trained volunteer Peer Mentors and supported by dedicated safeguarding procedures, clinical oversight and ongoing impact evaluation, creating safe and supportive spaces where meaningful connections can flourish.
Following an exciting period of development, Been There is entering a new phase of growth. We have strengthened our clinical and safeguarding infrastructure, enhanced our Peer Mentor training programme, developed a new digital platform and established a comprehensive impact measurement framework to better understand and demonstrate the difference our service makes.
We're a small but ambitious team with big goals, strong values and a genuine belief that lived experience has the power to change lives. Every day, we're working towards a future where no one faces body image challenges alone.

The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Fundraising Manager to help power the next chapter of Been There's growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on identifying opportunities, building relationships and developing compelling fundraising propositions that inspire people to invest in meaningful change.
Your primary focus will be securing income from trusts, foundations and statutory funders, while also supporting the development of wider fundraising opportunities across corporate fundraising and major donors.

You'll also contribute to fundraising strategy, support the development of fundraising campaigns and pitches, and help build the long-term financial sustainability of Been There.
If you've successfully secured grant funding, enjoy turning ideas into fundable projects and can confidently manage a funding pipeline from prospect research through to reporting, we'd love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
