Fundraising Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days), Hybrid Working

Salary: £21,000 per annum (22.5 hours per week), equivalent to £35,000 FTE

Location: Home-Start Merton (Hybrid)

About Home-Start Merton

Home-Start Merton is a local family support charity dedicated to helping families with young children through challenging times. Working alongside trained volunteers and professional staff, we empower parents, strengthen family relationships and help children achieve the best possible start in life.

Purpose of the Role

The Fundraising Manager will lead the development, implementation, and delivery of Home-Start Merton's fundraising strategy, ensuring the organisation secures sustainable and diversified income to support its services and future growth.

The postholder will identify, develop, and manage a broad portfolio of income streams including trusts and foundations, statutory funding, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, individual giving, and events. They will build strong relationships with funders and partners, prepare compelling funding applications, demonstrate organisational impact through high-quality reporting, and identify opportunities for long-term income generation.

Working closely with the Managing Director, staff, and Trustees, the Fundraising Manager will play a key role in supporting the organisation's strategic objectives and financial sustainability.

Strategic Fundraising

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review the organisational fundraising strategy.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and diversify income streams to reduce reliance on single funding sources.
  • Monitor fundraising performance and provide regular reports to the Managing Director and Board of Trustees.
  • Keep informed of developments within the charity funding landscape and identify emerging opportunities.

Trusts, Foundations, and Statutory Funding

  • Research and identify suitable grant and statutory funding opportunities.
  • Prepare, write, and submit high-quality funding applications that clearly demonstrate organisational impact.
  • Manage the funding pipeline, ensuring timely submission of applications and reports.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with funders.
  • Produce accurate monitoring, evaluation, and impact reports that meet funder requirements.
  • Work with colleagues to gather evidence, data, outcomes, and case studies to support funding applications and reporting.

Corporate Partnerships and Community Fundraising

  • Develop and manage relationships with local businesses and corporate partners.
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities and corporate volunteering initiatives.
  • Support community fundraising activities and campaigns.
  • Develop fundraising events that increase both income and awareness of Home-Start Merton.
  • Steward supporters to encourage long-term engagement and repeat giving.

Donor Stewardship and Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, supporters, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure excellent stewardship throughout the donor journey.
  • Maintain accurate donor and funder records using the organisation's CRM/database.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Compliance

  • Monitor fundraising income against agreed targets and budgets.
  • Evaluate fundraising activity to maximise return on investment.
  • Ensure fundraising activities comply with the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice and all relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to organisational reporting and business planning.

Collaboration and Representation

  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to identify funding priorities and demonstrate programme impact.
  • Attend networking events, meetings, and partnership forums to promote Home-Start Merton.
  • Support Managing Director and trustees with fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
  • Represent Home-Start Merton professionally at external events and meetings.
