As the charity for East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, and all the services delivered by Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, we know that being in hospital can be hard – and we want to change this.
We are now looking for a great fundraiser to join our small and impactful charity team for a 12-month Maternity Cover contract. The role is part-time (21.5 hours per week) and we are open as to how those hours are split across the week.
We are looking for someone with brilliant skills and the drive to help across the whole range of fundraising channels. From making grant applications, to liaising with event participants, and thanking supporters.
This is a great opportunity to be a key part of a growing charity having an impact for people across East Surrey and West Sussex when they need it most.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively contacting potential supporters (for example those who have asked about charity places in events), and helping convert as many of them as possible into supporters.
- Engaging existing supporters, for example thanking them, gathering supporter stories for social media, and considering other donor engagement activity.
- Growing the number of applications we make to relevant charitable trusts and foundations.

You will also be a key representative of the charity, as we seek to make it easier for people in the hospitals to see how they can support our work, for example by representing charity to hospital staff (for example visiting wards to build relationships, check on what materials they need) or by representing the charity on a stand at SASH sites, or in the community – helping make our work more visible to people who already care deeply about their hospitals.
We are primarily looking for someone with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and the skills and drive to help make it as easy as possible for people to support our work, and feel that they are a valued part of something brilliant.
About Us
As Fundraising Officer for Surrey & Sussex Healthcare Charity you'll be part of a small, nimble charity team, whilst also being part of a major NHS organisation.
We are a leading local employer with a diverse workforce of approximately 6,000 staff, dedicated to providing healthcare services to a growing population of around 780,000 individuals.
Our Trust provides both emergency and planned healthcare across East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, and South Croydon – covering towns like Crawley, Horsham, Reigate, and Redhill. Our main hospital, East Surrey in Redhill, offers a full range of acute and specialist services and is also the closest trauma unit to Gatwick Airport. We also provide outpatient, diagnostic, and planned care services at sites including The Earlswood Centre, Caterham Dene Hospital, Crawley Hospital, Horsham Hospital, and the Community diagnostic Centre in The Belfry in Redhill.
