Role Description
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Funeral Director to join our team in St Leonards-on-Sea. You will support families through the funeral arrangement process, providing professional advice, reassurance, and guidance while ensuring every funeral is conducted with dignity and respect. The role includes arranging and conducting funerals, carrying out removals, coordinating with families and professional organisations, and participating in the out-of-hours telephone and removal rota.

Key Responsibilities
- Meeting with families to discuss funeral arrangements, wishes, and available options
- Arranging and conducting funerals to a high professional standard
- Providing compassionate support and guidance to bereaved families
- Carrying out removals of the deceased in accordance with company procedures
- Liaising with Medical Examiners, Coroners, clergy, crematoriums, cemeteries, mortuary staff, and other professionals
- Ensuring all funeral arrangements, documentation, and records are completed accurately
- Maintaining confidentiality and complying with GDPR and relevant legislation
- Working closely with colleagues and external suppliers to ensure funerals run smoothly
- Managing cremation ashes and memorial arrangements
- Participating in the out-of-hours telephone and removal rota
- Managing a busy workload and proactively resolving problems
- Maintaining the highest standards of care, dignity, and respect for the deceased

About You
- Previous experience as a Funeral Director
- Compassionate, empathetic, and professional
- Confident supporting families during sensitive situations
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Calm under pressure and able to manage changing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable with the practical and physical aspects of the role
- Flexible and willing to participate in an out-of-hours rota
- Full, clean driving licence
- Smart and professional presentation
