At McCartney Family Funerals, Funeral Operations Assistants play an important role in ensuring every family we serve receives the care, dignity and attention they deserve.

About The Role

Funeral Operations Assistants provide practical and operational support across our funeral services. Working closely with Funeral Directors and other members of our team, you’ll help ensure everything required for a funeral, viewing or transfer is prepared and delivered professionally.

Depending On Operational Requirements, Your Responsibilities May Include

  • Preparing venues, chapels and equipment for funeral services and viewings
  • Assisting Funeral Directors with the conduct of funeral services
  • Assisting with transfers and the respectful transportation of deceased persons
  • Assisting with the preparation the deceased for services, including dressing and casketing
  • Coordinating flowers, service materials, equipment and other funeral requirements
  • Assisting with cemetery, crematorium and other service logistics
  • Maintaining funeral vehicles, facilities and equipment to a high standard
  • Completing operational documentation and records accurately
  • Providing practical assistance and compassionate support to families
  • Working collaboratively across our Funeral, Mortuary and Operations teams
  • Participating in after-hours and on-call requirements where required

About You

Funeral service is unlike most other careers. Technical skills can be developed, but the way you approach people, responsibility and care matters enormously.

  • Physically capable of undertaking the inherent requirements of funeral operations
  • Comfortable working with deceased persons
  • Willing to work outside traditional business hours when required
  • Committed to treating every deceased person as though they were a member of their own family

Previous funeral industry experience is highly regarded, particularly experience in funeral operations, transfers, service assistance or mortuary support.
