At the Heart of England Co-operative Funerals

We are a small, independent, regional business operating through 14 funeral homes in Coventry, Warwickshire, South Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire serving our client families to the very highest standards with our committed team of experienced professionals.

We Are Looking for a Funeral Service Operative

Who will provide an exceptional level of care when bringing the deceased into our care and whilst out on the day of the funeral. These colleagues need to have superb driving skills to transport our client families in comfort and safety in our ceremonial Hearses and Limousines. The role will require you to work effectively as part of a team, as well as being able to work on your own initiative and sometimes under pressure. We need a person who is caring as well as empathetic to the needs of our clients and our colleagues. Attention to detail is a prerequisite.

This role is based at our care centre in Rugby and we would prefer our applicants to be within a 5 mile radius. Working a core of 39 hours per week between our locations, there will also be additional hours working evening and weekends when participating in our ‘On call’ rota outside of normal office hours. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience in the Funeral Industry however this is not a requirement as full training will be provided once in post.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
