Furniture Spray Painter / Veneer Finisher
Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: £16.00 – £22.00 per hour DOE
Position: Permanent | Monday–Friday | 08:00–16:30
BMR Solutions are recruiting for a highly skilled Furniture Spray Painter / Veneer Finisher to join a specialist manufacturing business producing high-value, premium finished products.
This is a specialist finishing position requiring previous professional experience working with wood veneer.
We are looking for somebody with an exceptional eye for detail who understands the complete finishing process – from preparing and repairing veneered surfaces through staining and colour matching to achieving a consistently high-quality final sprayed finish.
The quality of the finished product is critical. Applicants therefore need previous experience working in an environment where craftsmanship, colour consistency and surface finish are held to extremely high standards.
The Role
You will be responsible for the preparation, staining, repair and spray finishing of veneered components and panels.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing veneered surfaces through sanding, masking and cleaning
- Preparing surfaces correctly for subsequent staining, lacquer and finishing processes
- Spray finishing veneered panels and components
- Working with standard and premium/luxury-grade veneers
- Staining veneer to achieve specified colours, tones and finishes
- Colour matching against samples and specifications
- Identifying defects, blemishes and damage within veneered surfaces
- Carrying out high-quality veneer repairs
- Applying consistent lacquer finishes using professional spray equipment
- Working with AC lacquer and pump spray systems
- Working with PU and water-based coating systems where required
- Using hand and power tools for preparation and finishing
- Inspecting completed work for colour consistency, surface quality and finish
- Maintaining consistency across batches and repeat production
- Maintaining spray equipment and a clean, organised working environment
- Working safely within a professional spray booth environment

The Person
Previous professional experience of veneer finishing is essential.
This position requires considerably more than general spray-painting experience. You will need to understand how natural veneered surfaces behave and how preparation, staining, colour matching and repair affect the quality of the finished product.
We are particularly interested in people who have worked on high-value products where the appearance and consistency of the final finish are critical.
Relevant backgrounds could include:
- High-end furniture manufacture
- Bespoke furniture
- Cabinet making
- Bespoke joinery
- Luxury interiors
- Marine or yacht interiors
- Specialist interior fit-out
- High-value veneered products
Experience working with premium or luxury veneers would be particularly relevant.
Essential Experience
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Significant professional furniture or wood spray-finishing experience
- Previous hands-on experience working with wood veneer
- Veneer preparation and finishing
- Veneer staining
- Colour and tone matching
- Veneer defect identification and repair
- High-quality lacquer application
- Professional spray equipment experience
- Excellent surface preparation skills
- The ability to produce consistent finishes across multiple components
- Exceptional attention to detail
Experience using AC lacquer with pump spray systems would be particularly valuable, alongside knowledge of PU and water-based coatings.

What We're Looking For
This role is ultimately about craftsmanship.
The successful candidate will be somebody who can look closely at a veneered surface and identify subtle differences in colour, tone, grain and finish, and who understands the work required to achieve a consistent premium result.
You will need the patience to prepare surfaces correctly, the technical ability to stain and colour-match accurately and the practical finishing skills to achieve an exceptionally high standard of final finish.
Previous experience working on high-value or premium products is important. We are looking for somebody accustomed to an environment where small imperfections matter and where the visual quality of the finished product is a fundamental part of its value.
The role offers considerable independence and would suit an experienced finisher who takes genuine pride in their workmanship and is comfortable taking responsibility for the quality of their own work.
£16.00 – £22.00 per hour depending on experience.
Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30.
