Furniture Technician / Upholsterer / Furniture Restoration Technician Aberdeen & Dundee
£35,000 + Company vehicle, fuel card, tools, materials, and great benefits.
This is a brand new opportunity with a newly established furniture and upholstery restoration company that has just launched in Scotland, built from the ground up around a genuinely better way to support and develop its technicians. Backed by an experienced operations team and already building a strong reputation, this is a rare chance to get in early with a growing business rather than joining an established, high-volume operation where you are just another number.
We are looking for an experienced Furniture Technician, Upholsterer, Furniture Restoration Technician, or Upholstery Specialist to join the team on a field-based basis, covering the Aberdeen and Dundee area. If your background is in upholstery, furniture repair, furniture restoration, cabinet making, wood repair, French polishing, furniture spraying, or domestic furniture manufacturing, this role offers genuine autonomy, excellent support, and a fast, efficient way of working. We need someone in place as soon as possible, so early applications are strongly encouraged.
What you'll be doing:
- Visit customers in their own homes across Aberdeen, Dundee, and the surrounding area to inspect furniture and upholstery, diagnosing the repair or restoration work required
- Carry out upholstery repairs, leather repairs, and color matching, plus cabinet and wood-based furniture repairs, to a consistently high standard
- Plan and manage your own daily route and appointments, with genuine autonomy over how you organize your working day
- Produce clear, accurate reports for both the business and the customer after each visit, using an efficient reporting system with direct support from a dedicated head office contact
- Advise customers on ongoing furniture and upholstery care and maintenance
- Represent the company professionally and deliver a consistently excellent standard of customer service

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
