Job Summary

Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Ipswich, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham. (Croydon and Stratford will only be available to existing employees of the Insolvency Service).

The Insolvency Service is a leading government agency which plays a crucial role in providing essential services to the public and to business. The work we do is important to the proper functioning of markets, the economy in general and support for thousands of people each year who are in financial difficulty.

We are looking for an inspiring, forward-thinking leader to join the Corporate and Operational Services (COS) Senior Leadership Team heading up our Change Governance Teams. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive oversight and ensure seamless coordination across the Change Governance functions. This role encompasses a broad remit, spanning people and capability development, risk management, governance and assurance, strategic business planning and reporting, business support services and oversight of the Change Management Office.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional strategic acumen, innovative thinking, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Acting as a champion of our long-term vision, to ensure we are ‘fit for the future’ to deliver the new agency strategy, you will be instrumental in guiding our teams through complex change, fostering a culture of collaboration, capability building, and high performance. You will be an advocate for effective governance, robust resource management, and impactful communication, ensuring that Corporate and Operational Services (COS) not only adheres to best practices but also sets new benchmarks for success. Your leadership will be pivotal to empower teams, nurture talent, and ensure that our collective achievements are underpinned by shared values and a relentless pursuit of organisational goals working across COS and the wider Agency.

  • As part of the Corporate and Operational Services (COS) leadership team, ensure a cohesive overall approach to achieving objectives, leading by example, demonstrating core values and role modelling the ethos of collective success.
  • Ensure alignment with strategic objectives and overall vision, defining clear roles and responsibilities and fostering a structure that supports collaboration, efficiency and continuous improvement.

  • Work across the Agency to develop and prioritise long-term strategies that align with the Agency’s goals and objectives. Monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives.

Governance And Assurance

  • Lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks, oversee risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and tracking benefits and efficiencies.

Resource Management And Capability Building

  • Lead the development of our resourcing strategy including Strategic Workforce Planning and the efficient allocation of resources to ensure optimal productivity and performance.

Communication

  • Communicate the COS narrative to a wide range of stakeholders. Ensuring clear and consistent messaging across the organisation.

Change Management And Impact Analysis

  • Responsible at agency level for shaping, mapping and assessing the impact of COS on individuals, teams and our organisation.

Business Support Services

  • Oversee the implementation of tailored business support to maintain the efficient and effective running of COS, supervising the single-entry point for all COS related queries.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

As part of the sift process, you will be asked to complete:
