Ruup & Form is a curator-led contemporary gallery based in London, representing material-focused artists with an emphasis on sustainability. The gallery showcases collectible design and craft from across the globe, presenting unique and limited-edition contemporary works that blur the lines between art, craft, and design. Founded in 2019 by Varuna Kollanethu, Ruup & Form is committed to building community by promoting artists through exhibitions, events, fairs, and educational workshops. The gallery works with over 40 artists and is known for cultivating strong relationships with both artists and collectors. Ruup & Form also undertakes significant commissions for corporate and private clients, reinforcing its reputation as an innovative and trusted gallery.

Role Description

The Gallery and Curatorial Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in London, supporting the daily operations of the gallery and its curatorial program. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with exhibition planning and installation
  • Coordinating artist communications
  • Supporting the delivery of events, fairs, and workshops
  • Maintaining exhibition spaces
  • Handling artworks with care
  • Updating inventory records
  • Supporting sales activities by preparing materials and liaising with collectors
  • Managing digital content and social media updates related to exhibitions and artists
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and visitor inquiries

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative, artist-centered environment and gain experience across gallery operations and curatorial practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience or strong interest in gallery operations, curatorial work, or arts administration, with the ability to support exhibitions, events, and commissions.
  • Competence in organizing and documenting artworks, including inventory management, cataloging, and basic artwork handling practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with artists, collectors, visitors, and partner organizations.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines, and handle day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Comfort with digital tools such as email, spreadsheets, document software, and social media platforms for gallery communications and promotion.
  • Knowledge or interest in contemporary art, craft, design, and sustainability; prior experience in a gallery or museum setting is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in London, including occasional evenings or weekends for openings, events, and fairs.
  • Relevant education in art history, fine art, design, curatorial studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
