Role Overview

The Garage Technician is responsible for maintaining and preparing the garage and associated equipment for race events, both trackside and at the factory. This includes ensuring that all tools and equipment are in optimal condition, assisting with garage set up, pack down, and supporting the race team during events. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Offer technical assistance to the race team during events, encompassing tasks such as tyre preparation and management, refueling, troubleshooting and resolving pit stop equipment issues
  • Prepare the garage area for race events, ensuring all tools and garage equipment are organized and in optimal condition; maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the garage at all times
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair tools and equipment used by the race team; ensure all equipment meets safety and performance standards
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained; order and restock items as necessary
  • Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed in the garage; conduct regular safety checks and report any hazards or issues to the Team Logistics Manager or Chief Mechanic
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory; document any issues or incidents that occur during race events
  • Work closely with the mechanics and other team members to ensure smooth operations in the garage; provide assistance and support as needed to ensure the success of the race team

Qualifications

  • Technical certification or diploma in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, such as a Level 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Technology or Engineering
  • Proven experience in a top-tier motorsport or automotive environment, preferably within Formula 1®
  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive tools and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
