We're looking for a passionate and skilled individual to join us as a Garden Estates Team Leader. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a team that's making a real difference in people's lives.
Our joining of forces with Karbon Homes affords us the opportunity for further development, ensuring we continue to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we work.
About The Role
54North Homes owns and manages circa 4,000 homes throughout Yorkshire. Formed in December 2022, through a merger between Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association and York Housing Association we are a subsidiary of the Karbon Homes Group.
At 54North, we believe in providing high quality, affordable homes that are safe, warm and secure and supporting our customers to live well in their communities. We put customers at the heart of everything we do and strive to provide an excellent level of service. This extends beyond the bricks and mortar of our homes to empowering our customers and working in partnership to offer a range of other services, from training to financial support.
You'll be an enthusiastic leader and positive role model, committed to providing the highest possible standard of estates and gardening services to our customers.
Working closely with the Estates and Facilities Management team, you'll:
- Lead, motivate and support the Gardening Team to deliver high-quality services across our estates.
- Monitor team performance and ensure agreed service standards, KPIs and objectives are achieved.
- Plan, prioritise and allocate work effectively to ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Carry out regular estate inspections to ensure neighbourhood standards are maintained.
- Build positive relationships with residents and respond to customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve services and neighbourhood environments.
- Support the monitoring of contracted services through site inspections, quality checks and on-the-ground observations, helping to ensure agreed standards and value for money are achieved.
- Ensure estates are clean, safe and pleasant places where people want to live.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
- Maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement across the service.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving our neighbourhoods while helping to deliver outstanding services to our customers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
