About Leathermarket JMB

Leathemarket JMB is Southwark’s largest resident-managed housing organisation, managing 1600 homes in Borough and Bermondsey between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. Our vision is to provide excellent housing services for our residents, better than those provided by other organisations with similar resources.

The JMB has devolved responsibility for 455 homeowners from Southwark Council. This means that the two postholders have wide-ranging responsibilities for homeowner service.

Our values:

  • We do the right thing and keep our promises.
  • We only spend what we can afford.
  • We celebrate diversity.
  • We are kind to each other, and we pull together.
  • We love new ideas.

Purpose of the Job

To contribute to the maintenance of amenity garden areas on public housing estates to a consistently high standard.

Main Accountabilities

  • Delivering a specified programme of green space watering and general grounds maintenance across JMB estates.
  • Undertaking general gardening and maintenance tasks, including digging, planting, dead-heading, pruning, weeding, soft edging, leaf clearance, grass-cutting, and other seasonal gardening activities.
  • Carrying out physically demanding estate maintenance tasks, including basic repairs, lifting, clearing, moving heavy items and materials, and maintaining garden areas and associated outdoor spaces.
  • Supporting the delivery of community gardening sessions and volunteer activities, encouraging residents and community groups to participate in the improvement of JMB's green spaces.
  • Maintaining tools, horticultural equipment, and outdoor areas in a safe, clean, and functional condition, reporting faults or defects as required.
  • Assisting in transforming neglected, damaged, or overgrown areas into safe, attractive, and usable green spaces, including minor improvement and maintenance works.
  • Taking responsibility for the health and safety of self and others at all times, following all relevant health and safety procedures and completing required training, including manual handling and the safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Communicating and engaging with residents, volunteers, and community groups politely and professionally, in a way that upholds JMB's reputation and supports participation in gardening, estate improvement, and community activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
