Gardener - £32,712 per annum - London, W10 5XL
Do you have hands-on horticultural experience and a strong knowledge of plants, pests, and diseases? Would you enjoy caring for busy public green spaces while making a visible difference to the local community?
The Role
Westway Trust is looking for an experienced Gardener to join our Grounds and Gardens team.
You will help care for more than three acres of public green space across our unique West London estate. From planting and pruning to lawn care and plant health, your work will help create welcoming outdoor spaces for local people, tenants, and visitors.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will work across a varied urban estate that welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Planting, watering, feeding, and monitoring plants
- Pruning trees and shrubs
- Mowing lawns, hedge cutting, strimming, and weeding
- Identifying and treating pests and diseases
- Supporting nursery work and plant propagation
- Maintaining soft and hard landscaping
- Litter picking, emptying bins, and removing bulk waste
- Using and maintaining tools and machinery safely
- Reporting damage, incidents, and maintenance issues
- Supporting community events, volunteers, and local groups
- Following health and safety procedures

About our Company
Westway Trust is a community-led charity responsible for 23 acres of land beneath the Westway A40. The estate includes green spaces, charities, shops, offices, sports facilities, workshops, stables, and an Olympic-registered skate park. We work with local people and around 80 member organisations to support North Kensington.

The Person
You will have:
- Experience in amenity horticulture and public open spaces
- Good plant identification and horticultural knowledge
- Experience using horticultural power tools
- Knowledge of pests, diseases, and health and safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A reliable, proactive, and flexible approach
- A commitment to biodiversity and equality
Greenhouse, propagation, or indoor plant experience would be an advantage. PA1/PA6 qualifications and a driving licence are also desirable.
