As a Gardener at Alex Wood House Care Home, you will be responsible for ensuring that the full extent of the grounds and gardens is a high-quality amenity for residents, their relatives, and our team.
About Alex Wood House Care Home
Alex Wood House is an exceptional residential care home in Cambridge. At Alex Wood House we pride ourselves on our family-feel, attractive gardens, and providing outstanding care to each of our residents.
We’re based in a quiet nook in Arbury on the north-eastern side of Cambridge, three miles from the city centre. Our home offers 24-hour residential care and 36 en-suite bedrooms.
About The Role
Reporting to the Home Manager, the Gardener is responsible for ensuring maintenance of the garden and grounds to a high standard. We want a truly green-fingered individual to take charge of our garden and grounds.
Salary
£12.71 per hour.
Shift Pattern
20 hours per week, worked on a rota basis from Monday to Sunday.

Home Location
Fortescue Road, Cambridge, England, CB4 2JS – 3 miles from the city centre.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Be solely responsible for the garden and grounds, overseeing all aspects of planning, purchasing, planting, and maintenance.
- Work with the Home Manager to plan for garden improvements, ensuring the garden flourishes under your care.
- Perform regular garden maintenance tasks, including watering, weeding, pruning, and general upkeep.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure the garden is well-watered, especially during the summer months.
Training, Skills & Experience Required
- Experience working within a gardening environment is essential.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of care homes or working with people living with dementia is advantageous.
