Job Description

Job Title: Gardener

Location: Richmond Village, Aston on Trent, Derby, DE72 2EA

Salary range: £12.90 per hour & Excellent Benefits

Contract: Full Time & Part Time

Shift Pattern: 8-4pm

We’re currently looking for a Gardener

To maintain a large site of mature gardens, wildflower meadow areas and a Bowling Green within our village.

To help you settle into your new role followed by ongoing training and development including access to apprenticeships.

This also includes access to our online portal which has a variety of resources to aid personal development & free access LinkedIn's online learning platform.


You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By

  • Previous gardening, grounds maintenance, horticultural or landscaping experience is essential.
  • A good knowledge of plant care, lawn maintenance, pruning, and seasonal gardening tasks.
  • Experience using gardening and grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Basic maintenance skills, including fence repairs, painting, and general outdoor upkeep, would be advantageous.
  • A proactive and practical approach, with pride in maintaining attractive, safe, and welcoming outdoor spaces.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering excellent service to residents.

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role

  • Friendly and approachable, you’re passionate about gardening and have a keen eye for detail, you may even have an NVQ in Horticulture.
  • With previous experience of general gardening or grounds maintenance, you’re comfortable with the safe use of chemicals under COSSH regulations.
  • You’re adaptable and organised and happy working as part of a team, supporting the maintenance team as and when required.

Because we care for vulnerable people, we’ll need you to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
