About the Role
We’re looking for a Multiproduct Garment Technologist to join our talented Technical team on a hybrid basis at the NEXT London Headquarters.
In this role, you’ll:
- Own the technical development of Lipsy’s soft separates
- Collaborate closely with Buying and Design teams to ensure proactive quality assurance
- Identify, assess, and escalate any manufacturing or performance risks
- Apply expertise in product construction, fabric/yarn capabilities, finishes, and performance
- Drive fit sessions to ensure compliance with NEXT standards and sealing procedures
- Conduct risk assessments to guarantee product safety and compliance
- Carry out fabric testing and provide solutions for failing materials
- Optimise policies and processes, improving reporting and workflows
- Manage the product approval process, communicating non-compliance clearly to teams and suppliers
- Work with Buying and Design for effective product development
- Conduct benchmarking against competitors and industry innovations
- Ensure suppliers understand Technical Standards, Code of Conduct, and CSR guidelines
- Work towards critical business deadlines to meet seasonal demands
- Resolve quality issues with a cost-effective and customer-focused approach, ensuring products meet legal and Health & Safety standards

- Fit and Compliance: Oversee accuracy of fit data and product compliance.
- Risk Management: Conduct assessments to uphold safety and quality.
- Testing & Solutions: Perform fabric tests and suggest improvements.
- Process Innovation: Make recommendations for policy and procedural improvements.
- Change Management: Communicate non-compliance and propose solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Engage with Buying, Design, and external suppliers.
- Benchmarking: Compare products against competitors and industry leaders.
- Supplier Alignment: Ensure suppliers meet NEXT’s standards, including ethical and sustainability requirements.
- Critical Deadlines: Align with seasonal timelines to drive efficiency.
- Issue Resolution: Handle quality challenges with a focus on cost-effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet legal and safety standards.
Requirements & Qualities
- Relevant Experience: Proven track record as a Garment Technologist, preferably in women’s fashion retail.
- Fast-Paced Adaptability: Flourishes in a high-pressure environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in fabric testing, report analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Multiproduct Expertise: Experience with multi-product ranges and diverse supplier networks.
- Stakeholder Relations: Builds strong working relationships with teams, suppliers, and cross-departmental groups.
- Proactive Mindset: Always seeks innovation and process improvement.
- Flexibility: Works both independently and as part of a team.
