Garment Technologist
Ambela | Full-time | In-person, Cardiff, UK | Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Annual salary: £34,000–£42,000, depending on experience

Key Duties
Working within the Product Development Team and reporting to the Head of Product, you will:
- Managing purchase orders from placement through to launch
- Support in the development of new, innovative products, implementing new technologies, construction techniques and features that benefit Ambela's product ranges and customers
- Implement and oversee the fitting and grading of all Ambela products across denim, outerwear, jersey and knitwear, working with factories and laundries
- Prepare and manage fit sessions, organising models as appropriate, in line with the critical path
- Use fabric and yarn knowledge to confidently identify areas of concern, and address these with fabric mills, garment factories and laundries as necessary, highlighting any risks to performance to the Head of Product
- Manage Ambela's quality and fabric testing standards, organising testing and keeping manuals up to date, and initiating wear trials where needed
- Maintain an awareness of global fabric and manufacturing costs to challenge pricing
- Create AQL inspection notes with measurement sheets for third-party inspections. Book inspections, feedback on results and implement corrective action plans
- Support the Head of Product to ensure manufacturing facilities and capabilities are well matched to business expectations, through knowledge of the supply base and action planning with suppliers when necessary
- Assess new factories for CSR, capability and suitability for Ambela. Ensure all supplier audits and compliance reports are up to date, recorded and managed with the Head of Product
- Conduct in-house quality inspections on receipt of product deliveries at the warehouse, recording any faults or failures and feeding back to factories to improve future production
- Support our customer services team with any fit, fabric or quality concerns raised by customers
- Work cross-functionally, as and when required, to support wider business objectives and projects

- A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Garment Technologist or in a similar role
- Previous experience working with denim is preferred, but not essential
- Passionate and positive about developing and improving products
- Able to travel to both UK and overseas factories and trade fairs as required
- Able to work in person, Monday to Friday, from our Cardiff office
Renumeration & Benefits
- Annual salary: £34,000–£42,000, depending on experience
