The Garment Technologist Role (Lipsy Knitwear Technical Team)
We’re looking for a proactive Garment Technologist to own the technical development of Lipsy’s knitwear collection. Based in central London with a hybrid work model, you’ll:
- Enforce quality standards by driving fit sessions to ensure product compliance with internal benchmarks
- Conduct risk assessments to maintain compliant, safe indicators
- Evaluate test reports and provide technical feedback to resolve fabric/yarn defects
- Benchmark against competitors to ensure innovation meets industry trends
- Advise improvements on policies, product reports, and supply chain processes
- Collaborate with Buying & Design teams to streamline quality assurance and expedite development cycles

Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with stakeholders (including suppliers), your core focus will include:
- Product compliance – verifying garment details against technical specifications
- Supplier alignment – ensuring understands Next’s technical guidelines (including Code of Conduct & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards)
- Cost-effective problem-solving – identifying and negotiating remedies for quality failures while maintaining profitability
- Timeline adherence – prioritising tasks to meet product deadlines
- Technical report creation – documenting findings and background research to support decision-making

We’re searching for an experienced Garment Technologist with: ✔ Specialised knitwear expertise within women’s fashion retail ✔ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking demands ✔ Proficiency in excel and technical reporting (fabric test data, supplier communication tools) ✔ Vision for innovation – proactive approach to solving challenges with forward-thinking solutions ✔ Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
