Garment Technologist - Men's streetwear/ sportswear

Central Manchester based (with global collaboration)

Reporting to: Design and Brand Director

Channels: International Wholesale & Direct-to-Consumer (D2C)

Full time head office role - 5 days a week - no hybrid

Our client is a dynamic, multi-brand apparel and footwear business operating a portfolio of licensed and owned brands. With a robust global infrastructure spanning design, sourcing, and distribution, they operate across three offices in the UK and China. Their business successfully combines creative flair, commercial acumen, and operational expertise to build and scale brands globally.

About the Role

This is a key opportunity to take ownership of fit, construction and technical standards across multi-brand apparel brands portfolio.

They are seeking a highly focused, organised and commercially minded Garment Technologist with strong experience across menswear, streetwear and sportswear. Working closely with Design, Product Development and their China office, you will manage fit, quality, construction and technical approvals from development through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working to a critical path to ensure that the development process is smooth and that the ex-factory dates are maintained.
  • Controlling all sample stages and ensuring they are done in adequate timeframe to the critical path.
  • Conducting fit sessions in-house; making confident commercial decisions along with Design team using your ability to understand, recommend and execute commercial construction solutions.
  • Responsible for measuring & sending comments across all the brands samples on all categories.
  • Analysing technical issues accurately and sending clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers.
  • Sending complete workbooks with accurate specs, correct grade rules, testing and risk assessment according to the category in question.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations, product safety and legislations.
  • Analysing product performance, checking with product development team the supplier’s fabric and garment testing and quality control.
  • Being a key point of contact throughout the development of the product, recording and reporting any actionable results.
  • Confidently manage and support Design Handovers.
  • Working directly with our Product Developers who are based in their China office.
  • Liaising with Design to offer technical guidance on new product development.
  • Supporting Design/Development teams in order to achieve products to the highest standard, and any development/production issues.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 4-5 years’ experience as a Garment Technologist or in a similar apparel technical role, ideally within menswear, streetwear or sportswear.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, specifications, testing, risk assessment and product safety.
  • Product & Brand Versatility: Confident working across multiple brands and categories with different fits, fabrics and end uses.
  • Organisation Skills: Highly organised and process-driven, able to manage sample stages, critical-path deadlines and international manufacturing timelines.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear, confident communicator able to give precise technical feedback and collaborate with Design, Product Development, overseas suppliers and internal teams.
