Bowmay Consulting are recruiting for two technical opportunities within the same team – a Garment Technologist and Senior Garment Technologist.
Based in Blackburn, these are newly created permanent positions with an established business entering an exciting period of change, development and growth, with a new division being created.
This is an opportunity to join the team at an important stage of its development, working across product development, garment specifications, sampling, fit, technical approval and supplier relationships.
The roles offer scope for candidates at different levels of experience, with the senior position offering greater ownership and responsibility.

About The Roles
Working as part of the product development team, you'll support the creation and progression of products from initial development through to manufacture, ensuring technical information, specifications and samples are accurate and delivered in line with agreed critical paths.

The role will involve working closely with Design, Production, Quality, Certification and external suppliers, as well as liaising with overseas factories during product development and manufacture.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Creating and issuing technical packs for new and resourcing styles
- Managing garment specifications, including diagrams, BOMs, size charts and artwork
- Organising and attending fit sessions
- Supporting sample development and approval
- Reviewing Bronze, Silver and Gold samples through to bulk production
- Working with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical, construction and fit issues
- Managing project critical paths and ensuring deadlines are achieved
- Maintaining accurate product development records and documentation
- Supporting product certification and compliance
- Producing technical garment drawings using Adobe Illustrator
- Reviewing and improving existing specifications
- Supporting continuous improvement in specification accuracy and consistency
About You
Garment Technologist
For the Garment Technologist position, we're looking for someone with relevant experience in garment technology, product development or a related discipline. Around 1+ years' experience is beneficial, together with a good understanding of garment construction and manufacturing methods.

Senior Garment Technologist
For the Senior Garment Technologist position, we're looking for someone who can demonstrate stronger technical experience and take greater ownership across product development, specifications, sampling and supplier relationships.
At either level, you'll need:
- Knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- A proactive, problem-solving approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Experience of working to critical paths would be beneficial
- A willingness and ability to travel within the UK and overseas
- Knowledge of PPE standards would be advantageous but isn't essential.
