Job Introduction
Gas & Heating Maintenance Technician
Join a Team Supporting UK Defence Infrastructure
As a Gas & Heating Maintenance Technician, you'll help maintain and repair essential gas, heating and plumbing systems across the Defence Training Estate. Your work will ensure military personnel have access to safe, compliant and reliable facilities that support critical training activities. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a unique environment while contributing to work that genuinely matters.
Role Details
- Salary: Competitive + allowances (DOE)
- Location: Lydd Camp, Romney Marsh, Kent, with travel to Hythe Ranges and other regional sites as required
- Contract: Permanent, Full-time, On-site
- Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rota as required
- Travel: Regular travel between Lydd Camp, Hythe Ranges and other regional sites as required

We maintain safe, sustainable infrastructure, operate training areas and ranges, and deliver major projects that enhance vital military training assets. What You'll Do
- Carry out Landlord Gas Safety Inspections and complete remedial works where required.
- Maintain, repair and install gas, heating and domestic plumbing systems.
- Complete certification, service records and work orders accurately and on time.
- Liaise with customers, tenants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Participate in an on-call rota and respond to operational requirements outside normal working hours.
- Undertake Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities where appropriate.
- Travel to regional sites and operate company vehicles as required.
- Maintain technical competence through ongoing training and professional development.
- Support the delivery of a comprehensive heating, gas and plumbing maintenance service across the estate.

Essential
What We're Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Domestic and Commercial Natural Gas Installation.
- Gas Safe and OFTEC qualifications.
- Experience maintaining and repairing domestic and commercial gas and heating systems.
- Sound knowledge of plumbing and heating systems.
- Understanding of Health & Safety requirements including COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Strong communication skills with experience engaging effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- CWST Cleaning and Disinfection qualification.
- Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, including Air Handling Units.
- IOSH Working Safely qualification.
- Additional domestic or commercial gas and heating qualifications.
- Previous Authorised Person (AP) experience.
