Gas Engineer – Permanent, Full Time Serco: AASC Midlands & East of England (patch location: Derbyshire)
About the Role
As a Gas Engineer in our Operations team, you’ll maintain safe, warm, and compliant accommodations by performing essential installations, servicing, diagnostics, and inspections. Your work will directly support people, communities, and government standards across the Midlands and East of England. You’ll receive a company van for private use alongside the required tools to excel in this vital role.
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Boiler servicing, installations, maintenance & repairs compliant with Gas Safe regulations
- Carrying out gas safety inspections and certifications, with accurate record-keeping
- Diagnosing gas system faults and implementing compliant repairs
- Providing technical advice to non-trade teams for maintenance support
- Coordinating with external subcontractors, assuring quality and standards
- Managing jobs via internal systems, reporting faults and costs

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Gas Safe registration and a recognised gas qualifications (e.g., Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Domestic Natural Gas Installation, Gas Utilisation, or Plumbing & Heating)
- Proven diagnostic skills and strong knowledge of domestic gas safety
- Methodical, safety-focused attitude and ability to work independently
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel across the region
Additional Notes:
- BPSS clearance required (gov’t security checks, identity verification, and criminal record checks)
- An Occupational Health Questionnaire is mandatory
