Salary: £43,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week

We’re looking for a skilled and professional Gas Installation Engineer to join our Direct Works Trades Team within the Heating Directorate.
This field-based role will focus on installing, commissioning and upgrading domestic gas appliances, boilers, central heating systems and associated pipework. You’ll help keep our homes safe, energy efficient and compliant while delivering a high-quality service to residents.
What You’ll Do
- Install and commission domestic boilers, heating systems and pipework in line with Gas Safe standards
- Carry out pressure testing, flue gas analysis and safety checks
- Upgrade heating controls and replace faulty or outdated components
- Complete gas safety records, compliance paperwork and digital work logs
- Diagnose faults and support servicing and repairs when required
- Provide residents with clear advice on appliance use and energy efficiency
- Follow all health, safety and compliance procedures
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and professionalism in customers’ homes
- Plan and manage your own workload while supporting colleagues and apprentices

What You’ll Need
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- ACS qualifications including CCN1, CEN1, WAT1, HTR1, CKR1, CPA1 and UVHW
- Gas Safe Registered
- Proven domestic gas installation and fault-finding experience
- Strong knowledge of gas appliances, pipework and heating controls
- Ability to read technical drawings and diagrams
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong organisation, communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working at heights, including ladders, scaffolding and MEWPs
- Confident using tablets and digital technology
